Local real estate portal receives global recognition

An Australian real estate portal has been selected as one of only five nominees in the Real Estate category of the 20th annual Webby Awards.

Free-to-list portal Homely was the only Australian real estate company to receive the honour this year.

Homely co-CEO and head of product Adam Spencer said the nomination is a true testament to the group’s vision of a faster and easier real estate search experience.

“It’s fantastic to hear that the effort we put into user experience, user interface and design are paying off not only in terms of users, but also global recognition,” he said. “To be placed as one of the top five real estate sites in the world is a big honour.”

The Webby Awards, hailed as the “internet’s highest honour” by The New York Times, are the leading international awards honouring excellence on the internet.

The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), which nominates and selects the Webby Award winners, is comprised of web industry experts, including Tumblr founder David Karp, executive creative director at Refinery29 Piera Gelardi, musicians Questlove and Grimes, head of fashion partnerships at Instagram Eva Chen, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, TV host Jimmy Kimmel and creator of the .gif file format Steve Wilhite.

As a nominee, homely.com.au is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, which are voted online by fans across the globe. From now until 21 April, homely.com.au fans can cast their votes here.
