New listings website announces beta test

View Property Australia, a new "industry-owned" listings website, has announced a period of beta testing, with only a handful of agents granted the opportunity to test run the site.

“To ensure that we meet the expectations of our industry supporters and to iron out the inevitable small glitches that occur with any new portal, the View Property team have made the decision to test run the site over the holiday break and during January,” View Property said in a recent press statement.

“This beta version of the View Property Australia site will only be populated with a limited number of listings to enable agents to gain a feel for the site and to enable them to provide feedback about what they would like to see included,” the statement continued.

Agents who have been offered the opportunity to participate in the site's initial testing stages have been urged not to share the URL with other peers or friends and forward their feedback to the company directly.

“Only a selection of those industry members who have registered will be provided with the temporary beta URL, however we will increase the number of our supporters having access on a daily basis to enable us to best manage feedback,” the statement said.

The new site, which announced earlier this year that it would only launch once it had 50,000 listings, also said it will restrict advertising rights to companies whose services are “complimentary” to the industry.

“We are focussed on maintaining the professional integrity of the site by ensuring it is not dominated by advertisers," the organisation said.

“The corporate team are also working to establish the ‘Industry Ownership Model’ and more information on that will be available further into the New Year, however our focus right now is to provide a simple, easily navigated national website for our industry."
