Is eBay an untapped resource for agents?

One South Australian real estate agent who is using eBay to find potential clients has already found success using the bidding website.

Murray Pope, of Ray White Norwood, told Real Estate Business he discovered a block of land in Port Adelaide that was originally for sale through eBay.

Now it’s going to auction with a price expectation of $350,000.

"I saw the land for sale while I was looking on eBay. I decided to approach the owners and ask if they wanted some help with the selling process,” Mr Pope said.

“It turned out the owners were based in Queensland and they were very happy with the idea of a local agent auctioning the land,” he added.

Mr Pope, who only joined Ray White last year, said he was surprised that he nabbed his first auction property via eBay.

“I put an email out through eBay and they responded,” he said, adding that the "quirky block" is set slightly back from the waterfront in the heart of Port Adelaide.

Mr Pope believes eBay is a resource that he will “absolutely” use again to seek out potential clients.

“Yes, I will be using it again," he told Real Estate Business. "I look through eBay and Gumtree for potential clients. It’s worked already so, yeah, I will continue to use it."
