REIQ adds directors, re-elects chairman

Queensland’s peak real estate body has elected a new board, with two new faces among the seven-person panel.

Real estate consultant Peter Brewer and Century 21 Commercial Hervey Bay principal Linda Bland have joined the board of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland.

Bees Nees managing director Rob Honeycombe has begun his second consecutive term as REIQ chairman after being re-elected to the board.

The other re-elected directors are Deborah Duffy from Deborah Duffy Estate Agent, Jonathan Blocksidge from Blocksidge & Ferguson and Mark Brimble from The Doctor for Real Estate.

BDO partner Eddie Chung also remains on the board as its non-member director.

REIQ chief executive Antonia Mercorella thanked the previous board for its support during the past two years and congratulated the new directors on their election.

“I look forward to working with this board to create a stronger, more dynamic institute that serves our membership and advances the real estate profession across all sectors,” she said.

Mr Honeycombe, the re-elected chairman, said REIQ works closely with its members and the government to meet the needs of the Queensland real estate profession.

“I’m particularly passionate about raising professionalism in real estate. The state government gave in-principle support to our call for mandatory ongoing training for all agents and I'm keen to work with them to make this a reality in the new year,” he said.
