McGrath and AREC founder John McGrath says the current market shakedown will result in fewer agents and greater opportunity for those remaining, as AREC19 approaches.

Mr McGrath said that the changing market will be the catalyst for success.

“Chaos creates opportunity if you will,” he added.

“And with a range of structural changes taking place simultaneously, we believe AREC19 has never come at a better time. Customer expectations are higher than they’ve ever been, technology is playing a much greater role and agent teams [are] being more prevalent than ever before.”

Mr McGrath also said that the greatest risk to the industry is resistance.

“Change will be a major theme this year and how to embrace it. Whilst we will have our traditional hand-picked group of real estate superstars, we have also a larger-than-ever group of agents working traditional suburban markets producing phenomenal results.

“No longer do you have to work in Toorak or Double Bay to write $2 million in fees and our speakers will demonstrate that.”

AREC19 organiser and GM of Total Real Estate Training Nichola Byrne said that this year’s conference will centre around four themes: connect, think, innovate and grow.

“The real estate landscape is a different place than it was a year ago; therefore, we believe that there has never been a more imperative time for agents to upskill and embrace change.

“A focus on honing their skills, learning new techniques and connecting their circles will empower them to thrive in new market conditions and deliver optimum results for consumers.

“We have designed [a] program together that features 21 speakers from differing walks of life, giving a truly unique and wide scope of practical strategies, that our delegates can implement into their businesses immediately.”

The two-day conference returns in 2019 for the eighth year to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in June.

It will be opened by sales entrepreneur and bestselling author Todd Duncan, who has written 17 books including New York Times bestsellers Time Traps: Proven Strategies for Swamped Sales People and High Trust Selling: Make More Money in Less Time with Less Stress.

Musician Mark Schulman, currently on tour with P!NK, will close day one with an “audio and visual feast” using music and real-world experience as a teaching tool.
