The priciest suburbs for rental units revealed

RP Data has highlighted the suburbs across Australia with the most expensive median weekly rent for units.

The suburb of North Fremantle in Perth, WA, took out the number one spot for most pricey rental units, with a median weekly advertised rent of $750.

North Fremantle is located approximately 15 kilometres south west of Perth.

Based on the median unit price and the weekly rental rate, the indicative gross rental yield for a North Fremantle unit was 4.1 per cent over the year to May 2014.  

Milsons Point in North Sydney, NSW, came second with a median weekly advertised rent for units of $740.

Milsons Point is located three kilometres north of the Sydney CBD and the indicative gross rental yield for units in Milsons Point was recorded at 3.2 per cent over the 12 months to May 2014.

In third place, Clovelly in Sydney, NSW, has a median weekly advertised rent of $700.

The beachside suburb of Clovelly is located eight kilometres south east of the Sydney CBD and the indicative gross rental yield for a Clovelly unit was 4.2 per cent over the year.

The suburbs rounding out the top 10 are detailed below:

 

Burswood, Victoria Park, Perth, WA

Median weekly advertised rent: $695

 

Balmain, Leichhardt, Sydney, NSW

Median weekly advertised rent: $680

 

Breakfast Point, Canada Bay, Sydney, NSW

Median weekly advertised rent: $680

 

Fairlight, Manly, Sydney, NSW

Median weekly advertised rent: $675

 

Pyrmont, Sydney, Sydney, NSW

Median weekly advertised rent: $663

 

Double Bay, Woollahra, Sydney, NSW

Median weekly advertised rent: $660

 

Bondi, Waverley, Sydney, NSW

Median weekly advertised rent: $650
