FRIDAY FUNNIES: How would you like to manage this property?

A slightly unusual rental property is now on the market – one with stone walls, two turrets and a drawbridge.

Yes, it’s a castle, and it can be all yours for $550 a week.

Crossman Castle, in Brisbane's Mount Crosby, was built in 2009 by the Crossman family.

Instead of putting the four-bedroom, two-bathroom fort on the market, the family is looking for a new rental ruler.

With interiors to match the home's unique facade, such as iron chandeliers and wine barrels, Ben Crossman told the ABC his family was going to find it hard to leave.

“There are a lot of personal memories here,” Mr Crossman said. "My wife and I were married when we finished building. We were hosting children's parties here ... it is hard to leave.

"We're deciding to move on and we just hope someone else would like to live here and enjoy it."

Mr Crossman said the idea to stray from the ordinary Australian home design came about after “a few bottles of red”.

As well as being able to block unwanted visitors with a drawbridge, the castle comes with a Tudor-style interior complete with claw-foot bath in the main ensuite, a mezzanine "overlooking hall” and slate floors.

Don’t let the mediaeval facade faze you: the home includes mod-cons such as an open-plan kitchen with a gas oven and Ethernet-cabled internet access in every room, along with solar panels and a water tank.

The castle is also pet-friendly.

"The plan at the moment is that we'll build a pirate ship pub, down towards the Gold Coast, so in a few years look out for that," Mr Crossman said.
