Online platform brings interactivity to mundane slideshows

One principal has changed the way she welcomes new tenants and landlords by using interactive presentations.

Professionals Lithgow principal Tina Case said her agency introduced Prezi presentations to improve the customer experience while saving time for staff.

“I wanted something that was simple, that got my message across, that still showed them who we are, and I felt like it helped us stand out from our competition,” she said.

“It saves us having to do a half-hour sign-up, which now becomes 10 minutes, and you get to have a bit of a chat with them and be a bit more personable rather than having to sit there and read through rules and regulations.”

Using Prezi instead of having a leasing consultant or property manager run through the necessary information means that agencies can create consistency with what they tell tenants and landlords.

“This way I know that I don’t have to worry about people getting the script wrong, because we’ve given it to them and it’s exactly the same message every time,” she said.

Ms Case said the presentations reduced the paperwork given to new tenants and landlords but still provided all the necessary information, expressed the agency’s personality and could even include video content.

“It’s really hard to put on paper how doing video inspections makes such a difference, whereas this way, I can send it to them before I actually go to the appointment and they’ve already had a chance to look at everything.

“If you’re sending new landlords a PDF in an email, then you have to send them a separate link to the video, but you can’t guarantee that they’re going to watch it; with Prezi, I can’t guarantee they’re going to watch it either, but I have made it easier for them to do so because it’s all in the one spot.”

According to Ms Case, Prezis are quite easy to build and edit, plus the platform is free to use. However, without paying for membership, any Prezis built are made available to the public.

“In the beginning I wasn’t keen [on] the whole public idea that anyone could go on there and look at them, since anyone could just copy what I was doing.

“Looking back on that now that I know how Prezi works and I’ve used it a little bit, plus not a lot of people are using, so it’s probably not something that I should have been overly concerned about.”
