Ninety changes to strata laws are due to come into effect later this year, and property managers and real estate agents will be given a chance to learn more about their new responsibilities.
The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW), NSW Fair Trading and Strata Community Australia (SCA) will be holding training roadshows to help real estate professionals understand the changes resulting from the new Strata Schemes Development Act 2015 (NSW) and the Strata Schemes Management Regulation 2016.
Following consultation with industry and consumers, 90 changes were made to strata laws, which will come into effect in NSW on 30 November.
REINSW CEO Tim McKibbin said the changes to the strata legislation are substantial.
“It is important for our members to understand their responsibilities under the new legislation,” Mr McKibbin said.
“A comprehensive one-hour Q and A session will give those attending [the roadshows] an opportunity to seek expert advice on their concerns and issues.”
The roadshows will also include presentations from NSW Fair Trading chief mediator Michael Courtney, SCA president and strata manager Greg Haywood and REINSW Strata Management Chapter committee member and partner at commercial property law firm Massons, Leisha de Aboitiz.
The roadshow tour dates are:
Tweed Heads, 23 August
Coffs Harbour, 24 August
Port Macquarie, 25 August
Newcastle, 30 August
Wollongong, 1 September
Sydney, 8 September
