One of the country’s most experienced property management experts has thrown in his lot with the leadership ability of John McGrath, announcing his return to the high-profile brand and declaring that a turnaround recovery is its only option.

Incoming head of network property management Michael Conolly said that this is a pivotal time for McGrath Estate Agents, especially with John McGrath back in the helm.

“I’ve worked with John for many years and one thing I know well is that when he sets a plan in place, with the type of determination and focus he has demonstrated recently, then the success of that plan is the only option available,” Mr Conolly said.

“In my opinion, this is an exciting time in the history of the company and a real turning point.”

Mr Conolly said that a “great deal” of positive change has already begun, and there is more to come.

“McGrath has been operating in the real estate market for nearly 30 years now and has been through every real estate cycle, including the GFC.

“All of our clients, investors and long-standing teams across the country need to remember that McGrath has not only survived all past cycles but has flourished and continued to grow.

“The company, internally, has also gone through many evolution points during those years. This turning point is yet another part of the evolution of the company and will prove to yet again be a path towards future growth and success.”

Mr Conolly returns to McGrath after a short break from the company.

He first started with McGrath in 2002 and worked until 2005 as general manager of property management. He then returned in 2010 to the newly established role of head of network property management.

McGrath head of franchise Christopher Mourd described Mr Conolly as one of Australia’s most respected experts in property management with over 28 years’ experience in residential, commercial and business management.

Mr Mourd said that the incoming executive has extensive leadership experience, including roles as state manager of multibillion-dollar asset portfolios.

“Michael is one the industry’s foremost property management experts,” Mr Mourd said.

“We are delighted that he has committed to continuing his career at McGrath alongside our growing team of property management professionals. Michael will be a strong asset in our future growth.”

The McGrath network has 33,082 properties under management representing approximately $21.5 billion in residential asset value.
