After a decade in the army, Tahnee Barnes started her real estate career last year as LJ Hooker’s Million Dollar Intern.

After an initial start in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, Ms Barnes has now made the move to Sydney’s inner-city and inner-west suburbs under the tutelage of The Agency’s Brad Gillespie.

“I felt it was important to work in the areas I know and close to where I live. I can relate to the people I am helping in the inner-city and inner-west suburbs, I can understand them, their lifestyles and help them sell their homes,” Ms Barnes said.

Ms Barnes knew that joining The Agency was the right cultural fit for her, even going so far as to compare it to her previous career.

“Joining The Agency is a bit like being in the military, a group of like-minded individuals, all at different levels and places but one big family,” the agent said.

Ms Barnes will be working with inner-city “specialists” Brad Gillespie and Irene Do, two of The Agency’s biggest names.

“Tahnee Barnes is one of the most passionate young agents I have met. She has enormous energy and drive and will talk to anyone and everyone. A great trait for an agent,” Mr Gillespie said.

Ms Barnes joins a successful duo who have already sold over $20 million worth of residential property this year, with an average sale price of $1,255,000.

Mr Gillespie claims to hold a 25 per cent market share for house sales in the inner-city suburbs and the highest market share for apartment sales in Alexandria.

He has set numerous records in the area including a record $1,110,000 one-bedroom house in the suburb of Alexandria.

By bringing Ms Barnes into the fold, The Agency will be able to strategise on how to expand its market share in the inner-city region.

“By growing our team, we can better take advantage of the opportunities in the market. We want to be the first port of call for the inner-city area, be it what’s selling, what’s leasing or property investment advice,” Mr Gillespie said.

The Agency CEO Matt Lahood said that he has spent his career building real estate teams, and that bringing Ms Barnes into the team was the right fit.

“Creating structure, support, efficiency and, of course, the right culture can allow everyone to focus on what they do best,” Mr Lahood said.

“When I met Tahnee Barnes and witnessed her energy and 100 per cent commitment, I knew she would be a great fit for Brad’s team.”
