Corporate diversity categories proving popular at Women in Real Estate Awards 2019

17 April 2019 Tim Neary

There is a little under a week remaining to submit for the REB Women in Real Estate Awards 2019, which has attracted significant levels of interest already, particularly across some of the groundbreaking corporate diversity categories.

Awards will be presented to the best women real estate professional in both individual and corporate categories, including the popular Diversity Boutique Network, Diversity Major Independent, Diversity Major Network and Women’s Community Program categories.

REB editor Tim Neary said that the great thing about these categories is that they are completely inclusive, in that they cater to both men and women who are doing stellar work in promoting and enabling diversity in Australian real estate.

“Although the judges will be looking for diversification champions in these categories, it is not a requirement that the offices be led exclusively by women,” he said.

“This gives an opportunity to both women and men in the industry to play their part in supporting progress, and to join the movement towards a more gender-balanced industry.”

Laing+Simmons managing director Leanne Pilkington said that men have an active role to play in promoting diversity, particularly in the area of flexibility in working arrangements.

“A commitment from real estate business owners and principals to offer genuine flexibility to all employees, men included, is necessary to support people through the different stages of their lives as well as their careers.”

Ms Pilkington also said that the REB Women in Real Estate Awards will be a great opportunity to celebrate the success of women in our industry.

She said that the qualities that make a great agent are typical of the best women agents.

“Having that balance of empathy, creativity, understanding the importance of listening, devising marketing strategies that resonate, and knowing when to be forthright are capabilities women often possess.

“Selling property is an inherently emotional experience and is a natural fit for many women.”

In its inaugural year, the REB Women in Real Estate Awards will celebrate and recognise the industry’s female leaders and role models and join the campaign for a more equitable world.

The event will be held in June in Sydney.

Submissions close on 19 April. Click HERE for more details.
