Real estate innovators, tech heads, start-up founders, geeks and industry enthusiasts are getting together for an “unconference” on the Gold Coast, the day before AREC kicks off.

The Proptech Pop-up 2019 will bring together start-ups, experienced industry suppliers and industry experts to create a new community.

“Proptech is growing exponentially in Australia with more than 300 businesses now operating in the space,” said Kylie Davis, who has organised the event together with digital marketing consultant Lara Scott.

“With everyone gathering on the Gold Coast for AREC, we thought it was a great opportunity to get everyone together and talk about the topics dedicated to start-ups and new businesses trying to succeed.

“We want to build an inclusive proptech community that will encourage greater awareness, collaboration and support.”

Ms Scott said the Proptech Pop-up has a semi-structured format.

“Key industry innovators, thought leaders and successful proptech start-ups are being invited to host and moderate sessions on topics that have been identified as important to the new community,” she said.

“The emphasis is on knowledge sharing, collaboration, networking and problem solving, and it’s based on a successful format that we’ve seen working in the US. PowerPoints are absolutely banned — but there will be lots of butchers’ paper and Post-its. We want to encourage everyone to share their experience so we get an understanding of the issues and really make the most of all the talent and skill sets we will have in the room.”

Topics on the agenda include funding options for start-ups, expanding into the US, scale and channel partnerships, and data access and obligations.
