Flat market has super benefits

The soft property market has created a huge opportunity for over 40s to purchase property from their self managed super funds, one industry figure has claimed.

Talking to Real Estate Business, Oxygen Home Loans general manger James Green said people now have a good opportunity to buy property through their self managed super funds.

“If you are 45 and over, the best place to buy a property right now is inside your super, not outside your super, which is the traditional way of thinking,” he said.

Elsewhere in the market, Mr Green said interest rates had been a cause for concern among real estate agents operating in the residential space.

“Interest rates are probably a bit too high and are affecting sale price, days on market and auction clearance rates, which really worries agents on a ground level.”

Oxygen has been working exclusively with McGrath Real Estate since 2004.
