Raine & Horne has made a key appointment to support its imminent move into another three countries.
Bill Russell has been appointed international general manager with responsibility for building Raine & Horne’s global networks, as well as finding property development and project marketing opportunities in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Indian subcontinent.
Mr Russell has previously worked with REA Group and serves as head of international development at Juwai – a role he will continue to hold.
Angus Raine, Raine & Horne’s executive chairman, said Mr Russell’s role with Juwai gives him an extensive working knowledge of real estate markets in Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
“We’re very keen to tap into Bill’s deep well of global experience and connections as we seek new markets,” he said.
“Everyone that Bill comes into contact with is interested in real estate, franchising best practice and online marketing, so roles with industry leaders such as Raine & Horne and Juwai will complement each other perfectly.”
Raine & Horne opened its first international office in 1989, in Malaysia, and plans to open offices in Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Abu Dhabi in the first half of 2016.
Mr Raine said global expansion represents an excellent way for the group to grow its 300-office network.
According to Mr Russell, Australia is well placed to export real estate methods due to its strong consumer protection laws and high standards of agency practice.
“We’re talking to a lot of entrepreneurs, especially in Asia and the Indian subcontinent, who recognise that a successful real estate business is an excellent financial opportunity, especially with the mushrooming middle classes in those regions,” he said.
