How winners are chosen

Our judging process is independent, rigorous, and transparent, ensuring every winner earns their place on merit.

The REB Property Management Excellence Awards program, in conjunction with event stakeholders Real Estate Business and Momentum Media, has developed a new methodology to form the backbone for assessing, analysing and benchmarking Australia’s leading property management professionals and offices.

You will be asked to answer four simple questions by recording yourself (either an audio recording or by submitting a video) to our secure awards portal. This video can be done on your phone – we don’t need green screens or top-quality cameras!

Register and lodge submission

Register here to get involved, and we will share a submission portal link with key steps.

You will be asked to provide an audio recording or video submission for the award categories you want to be considered for.

All entrants will be asked to submit an audio recording or video answering four questions. These questions will vary between categories.

Your responses will be assessed by a panel of judges.

All submissions are electronic and must be received through our secure awards platform by 5:30pm AEST on Friday, 21 August 2026.

The awards platform is safe and secure. It’s ISO/IEC 27001 certified and compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), PCI DSS, and more. No information received via the awards process or portal is used for any reason other than for assessing the submission, and is only shared with those judges who are judging each specific award.

Finalists shortlisted

Submissions are delivered to a panel of judges, who assess each audio recording and video submission and relevant data/metrics to select the finalists.

The number of finalists varies for each award category.

Finalists announced

Finalists are contacted directly by the Momentum Media team advising that they are finalists.

Finalists are then announced publicly via REB and the REB Property Management Excellence Awards website. Finalists will be announced during the month of September.

When finalists purchase their ticket, they are provided with a finalist seal that they can display on their website or in their office. Finalists are also provided with a press release to help them spread the word to their network.

Submissions judged

Finalist submissions are delivered to the panel of judges, who assess each submission against the criteria of each award category.

The combined judging scores for each submission for each category are tabulated, with the highest-scoring submission deemed the winner.

Winners announced

One winner will be announced per award category, with the awards presented at the REB Property Management Excellence Awards dinner.

Independence

All judges are appointed independently and recuse themselves from categories where any conflict of interest exists.

Fairness

Every submission is evaluated against the same published criteria. Judges do not compare submissions against each other – they assess each one against the standard.

Evidence-Based

Winners are determined by the quality of written evidence, not reputation, tenure, or company size.

Confidentiality

All submissions and judging deliberations are treated as strictly confidential.

Transparency

The criteria and methodology are published in full so every entrant knows exactly what is being assessed.
