McGrath Estate Agents has reaffirmed their confidence in the Queensland property market in opening a new office to service the Sunshine State’s northern tropical coast.

The expansion will be headed by local real estate professional, Andy Camm, who will preside as principal of the new office located in Airlie Beach, alongside an initial team of three, including lead agent Helen Maund.

McGrath reported that the new principal brings with him an acute knowledge of the area, having grown up in the Whitsunday area and borne witness to the area’s evolution firsthand and the price growth over the past 30 years.

“As with all Australia, the Whitsunday region has experienced its strongest years with regards to the rental demand and return for property investors, with vacancy rates consistently hovering around 1 per cent or below for the past three years,” stated Camm.

This acumen was influential in enabling McGrath Whitsunday to solidify their focus on areas such as Airlie Beach in addition to other burgeoning markets within Hamilton Island, Cannonvale, Jubilee Pocket, Proserpine, and the surrounding rural areas between Cannonvale and Proserpine.

This appointment comes at a decisive time, occurring in the wake of the Queensland government’s commitment to a $623.4 million capital works program in the Greater Whitsunday region that seeks to provide essential infrastructure to the increasing service needs of residents and workers in the area.

Christopher Mourd, head of franchise services at McGrath, additionally proclaimed that the Whitsunday region has recently showcased “enormous appeal and potential” that has coincided with a great deal of interest among their clients towards buying property in northern Queensland.

Further shedding light upon the interest in the Whitsunday region, Camm explained that he is seeing “the greatest southern migration in the history of the area, from families relocating due to the close proximity of the mines and the opportunities for work in the local construction industry”.

“Lifestyle continues to be a big drawcard, attracting families and retirees to the area for its natural beauty, islands, pristine beaches and connectivity,” concluded Camm.

Mourd was enthusiastic about the appointment, explaining: “It was important for us to partner with the right local operator who is both well-known, has a deep knowledge of the region and a reputation for excellent customer service.”

This expansion comes as one of a series of new developments for the McGrath Estate Agents network, most recently the announcement that Knight Frank and Barleys have agreed to acquire 100 per cent of the share capital of McGrath by way of scheme of arrangement.
