The agency has nabbed an industry veteran to lead its brand-new division.

X Commercial, which launched in July, has appointed Michael Mannix to head up the new arm. Mr Mannix takes on the role with more than 40 years of industry experience under his belt, most recently having led the NSW taskforce in charge of the West and North Connex infrastructure projects.

He joins the venture from MJM Property Group, a consulting, valuation and agency business he set up in the 1990s.

X Commercial’s CEO, Daniel O’Brien, commented on how the company expects this division to set them apart.

“X Commercial is the only independent agency brand in NSW to have an in-house registered valuer in Michael, whose extensive experience, industry contacts, and background is a great fit for our agency network and a significant point of difference for us,” Mr O’Brien said.

He added that he felt the service would add an important facet to the city’s commercial real estate sector.

“The Sydney commercial property market continues to power on, and our new advisory service, which has historically only been available with the global brands, is now available for our clients,” he said.

Mr Mannix himself has expressed interest in the way the company is changing the game.

“X Commercial is shaking up the property market with scale and a very talented team of agents,” he said, indicating that the sales side of the business would be backed up by the service they can then go on to offer landowners, buyers and tenants on the valuation and advisory side of things.

Though only a few months into operation, the business – which is the result of a merger between LJ Hooker’s commercial offices in South Sydney, Chatswood and the Inner West, as well as David Brown’s DB Property in Surry Hills – has posted strong results, reporting sales of  $110 million during the September quarter.
