A former Property Council of Australia “Person of the Year” has been promoted to the role of managing director, CRE, at the firm.

Guy Bennett, who joined the company in October 2022 to lead its South Australian team, assumes the role vacated by Simon Fenn, who shifts back into the transactional side of the business as national director for industrial and logistics capital markets, following two years of growing Cushman & Wakefield’s commercial facet.

With 23 years of industry experience across London, Sydney, and Adelaide on both the client and advisory sides — which included stints at JP Morgan, EY, and Charter Hall — Mr Bennett has been heralded as possessing “the ability to see and lead the agency through a non-transaction lens,” according to Matthew Bouw, the network’s chief executive, Asia Pacific.

While in the South Australian capital, Mr Bennett became a leading broker who possessed a market share of approximately 75 per cent for assets above $50 million. Mr Bouw also lauded how he “has a deeply entrenched national network and is extremely well regarded externally and internally.”

“Since joining Cushman & Wakefield recently, Guy has worked with the national leadership team on Cushman & Wakefield’s growth strategy, including the diversification of the firm’s services and sectors across Australia and investment in its people and technology,” Mr Bouw said.

Mr Bennett stated his excitement at propelling the national CRE business into the future, explaining that he feels “honoured to follow in Simon Fenn’s footsteps and look forward to leading the Cushman & Wakefield business into the next stage of its growth cycle.”

He said that the year ahead “is an exciting time for the commercial real estate industry,” adding that he is excited “to build on the strong foundations already in place around the country.”

Mr Bennett’s promotion is their second of the year after a move earlier in January saw the company “cast a wider net across Australian and New Zealand markets. Moreover, at the back end of last year, Cushman & Wakefield strengthened its Western Australian and South Australian offices.
