JLL has named a new head of diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) for Australia and New Zealand.

Kara Collins has been revealed as the new head of DE&I for the Australia and New Zealand operations of real estate services firm JLL.

The company stated that this latest appointment will “further strengthen” their commitment to fostering “an inclusive and equitable workplace”.

According to JLL ANZ head of human resources, Julie Skinner, this is the first time JLL ANZ has appointed a dedicated leader for DE&I.

Ms Skinner stated: “JLL is committed to gender equity, reconciliation, inclusion and belonging, volunteering in our communities, and to ensuring our teams are safe, respected and belong in our flourishing workplaces.”

Having joined the company in 2018 as a senior property manager, Ms Collins previously led JLL’s state and national DE&I committees and played “a crucial role in shaping a culture that values differences and encourages employees to bring their whole selves to work,” according to JLL.

Dan Kernaghan, CEO of JLL Australia and New Zealand, said that Ms Collins’ passion for DE&I would “undoubtedly inspire our employees to embrace diversity and champion equitable practices throughout our organisation”.

Ms Collins expressed optimism about her appointment, sharing that she is “excited to work with the passionate DE&I teams and leverage JLL’s extensive resources to ensure our workplace is an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and can thrive”.

“JLL has continuously shown a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and I am honoured to be entrusted with leading these efforts for Australia and New Zealand,” she said.

“We are fortunate that our clients are keen to partner with us in our diversity endeavours, and we do not underestimate the role we can play in ensuring that the communities in which we operate are inclusive for all. I look forward to personally supporting our team in their partnership with our clients in this important work,” Ms Collins stated.

In her new role, Ms Collins will report to Nashunda Williams, JLL’s global head of DE&I, as she works to deliver global, regional and local DE&I strategies in Australia and New Zealand.

“Kara’s past accomplishments and experience reflect her commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable environments, where employees feel welcomed, valued and empowered,” said Ms Williams.

“We look forward to the positive impact she will have in driving JLL’s DE&I journey and creating lasting, transformative change.”
