When Louis & Kathy D’Espagnac immigrated to Queensland from the UK in mid-2017, they never imagined they would be standing in front of the entire Coronis company at the 2021 Annual Awards winning Sales Person of the Year after they more than doubled their GCI in just 12 months.
Before making the move to Australia, Louis, was the Sales Director at The Romans Group, but following the sale of the business and Brexit, decided along with his wife it was time to move their family to the other side of the world.
“We had holidayed in Australia a couple of times and always loved the Sunshine Coast,” Mr D’Espagnac said. “One of my business contacts then introduced me to Andrew Coronis, we met a couple of times while on holiday in Australia in 2016 and the rest is history.
“Andrew helped us navigate the immigration system, secure my work visa and set us up and for that I will be eternally grateful so there was no question about ever going to another brand.
“I settled in relatively quickly and discovered there is no difference between selling in the southern hemisphere compared to the northern hemisphere. In my first two years, I was writing $600,000+ but I wanted to do better.
“I sat down with Andrew and Karuna about a year ago and worked out a plan to take my business to the next level, and Kathy and I implemented that together and 12 months later we’ve more than doubled our GCI which we couldn’t be prouder of.
“I think the fact that we’re a husband-and-wife team has been a major factor in our success and setting up our EBU within Coronis. Our clients can easily relate to us and it also helps that Kathy sees things from a woman’s perspective and reads the play differently to me.
“Another factor in our success is our data management. We’ve specialized in Pelican Waters in the past 12 months and COVID 19 has created a huge migration to the Sunshine Coast so we’ve gotten smarter about how we qualify our buyers and which properties we market to them because we know exactly what their budget and housing requirements are.
“We wouldn’t have been able to do this without the support and coaching of Karuna, Andrew and the wider support network that Coronis provides us.
“The agent care, administration, contracts and concierge teams all work together to manage our paperwork for us which means we can spend more time prospecting, listing and selling.
“Karuna and the marketing team has really helped us establish our brand in Pelican Waters, set up our EBU and guide us. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you feel fully supported and hopefully, we’ll achieve $2million+ GCI this financial year.”
Coronis Chief Operating Officer, Karuna Dimelow, who leads the sales department said it was really rewarding to see Louis and Kathy kicking some huge goals.
“As a business, we have made several significant changes over the past 12 months to enable our team and help them achieve their goals, and as a result we’ve had more agents than ever before write $1million+ this past financial year,” Ms Dimelow said.
“We’re in the process of helping about a third of our agents set up EBUs, we’ve recruited amazing Hub Directors whose job it is to mentor and equip our team with the skills to succeed and we recently launched our agent care service, which manages all the contracts, administration and client experience for the agents, 6 days a week.
“We also overhauled our renumeration structure to reward our high performers and put more money back into our agent’s pockets, so that they are intrinsically motivated to sell more properties and reach their own goals.
“The big goal for me and our Hub Directors, is working with each of our agents one on one and identifying opportunities for them to capitalize on and grow their brand and business.
“For Louis and Kathy, it was helping them focus on one core market with a high median price, master their offering so they didn’t feel the need to discount their services and invest in their marketing to increase their brand awareness in the Pelican Waters market.
