A major real estate group has appointed Colliers International's former head of research to a newly-created role as part of a push to deliver “richer content and insights”.

Nerida Conisbee has been appointed as REA Group’s first chief economist, following stints at Colliers International and Jones Lang LaSalle.

Ms Conisbee has 20 years of real estate industry experience and will commence on 4 April 2016.

REA Group CEO Tracey Fellows said the addition of a chief economist will add increased depth to the company’s content strategy.

“We’re really excited to welcome Nerida as our first ever chief economist. Her knowledge of the Australian residential and commercial property markets is second to none and Nerida will lead the delivery of richer content and insights to buyers, sellers and investors right across Australia,” Ms Fellows said.

Ms Conisbee echoed this sentiment, saying, “REA Group is an exciting business and I’m looking forward to applying an economist’s lens to its unique data sets and sharing new insights with its customers and consumers.”

Ms Conisbee holds a Master of Commerce degree, majoring in economics and econometrics, from the University of Melbourne.

Before her role as head of research for Colliers International, she was head of strategic consulting for Jones Lang LaSalle.
