Office introduces tenant surveys

As the property market continues to improve, property managers have been urged to pay particular attention to tenant well-being.

Speaking with Residential Property Manager, Olivia Grigg, head of property management at Harcourts Cumberland Park, said she recognised the increasing number of tenants becoming landlords and decided to act.

We survey landlords quite regularly, but up until very recently we’ve never really surveyed our tenants. After all, we want our tenants to be as happy with our services as our landlords," she said.

“Historically, tenants have been generally neglected in terms of service to them from property managers. We’re keen to find out if we’re doing a good enough job for landlords because they pay our fees, but it’s the tenants who need to pay the rent so we can collect our fees.”

Ms Grigg claims that tenant satisfaction is becoming a real concern as many make the shift to landlords and may or may not look favorably on their ex-property manager.

“We’re losing a lot of tenants who are becoming homebuyers," she said. "It's a great time to invest and people are realising that.

“We like to have a relationship with our tenants whereby they are happy enough to use us as their property managers when they make that shift.”
