The recent listing of a “trophy home” in Brisbane has painted a positive picture for high-end demand leading into the spring selling season, according to Ray White New Farm.

The “award-winning riverfront mansion” located in Chelmar is owned by TJ and Kim Peabody, heirs to one of Australia’s biggest fortunes.

Property specialist Matt Lancashire, who has broken the Brisbane house price record three times and sold the six out of top 10 homes in Brisbane, said there has been a marked increase in demand for high-end homes since the federal election.

“Confidence is high right now heading into the traditional spring selling season. I have 17 A-grade buyers on my books looking to buy above $10 million,” Mr Lancashire said.

“This house is beautifully crafted and even has a state roof that was built by the same craftsman from Ireland who did Windsor Palace after its fire,” he added.

“You would be hard pressed to find a better house in Queensland that has been built to this level.”

Mr Peabody, a former restauranteur, has owned the Longman Terrace mansion for 15 years, recently bestowing his dining empire to his dad, Terry Peabody, after four restaurants closed in just six months. Two of his more popular restaurants closed unexpectedly.

“It’s well known that my family helped me with my debts and, in fact, they are prepared to help me forever, but at the end of the day, I want to pay my dad back,” Mr Peabody said.

“I want to clean the state and continue to enjoy life.”

The seven-bedroom home includes two self-contained guest houses and tennis courts and all cabinetry was crafted by “famed high-end woodworkers”.
