Property buyers will now be able to walk through a home from the comfort of their sofa with a new augmented reality platform.

Spectrum Real Estate has launched a new augmented reality app which allows property buyers to be able to explore a place by scanning the brochure.

Instead of having a bold QR code, app users will be able to scan the booklet or flyer of a specific home with their phone, and then they will be able to walk through it in detail.

“This is more of a reinforcement,” Spectrum Real Estate director Divesh Sareen told Real Estate Business. “Once they have been through the property, they don’t have to wait another week to check simple details, such as how the kitchen looks or the colour of the carpet.”

It can also turn floorplans into 3D images to give prospective buyers an idea of a propertys layout and size, which is helpful for off-the-plan purchases, he said.

This app came as a result of exploring how print advertising could be made more valuable.

“Print plays a big part in real estate,” Mr Sareen said. “A perfect marketing campaign is a mix of print and digital.”

When it comes to attracting local buyers, he believes fliers for letterbox drops work well, and this addition of augmented reality creates a seamless path to a digital view of a property.

“People are blown away from the result,” he said.

Mr Sareen believes this product will help agents stand out to their clients and draw more listings.

“It is not just adding a video of you running around a property; it is about the practical purpose,” he said.

“Everyone has a smartphone, so they can easily scan the brochure to see the property in detail.”
