After 30 years in the Northern Beaches, Cunninghams will officially put down roots in the region’s upper end.
The new Avalon Beach office joins current offerings across Balgowlah, Manly and Dee Why, and will be helmed by local sales agent Jonathan Fletcher.
Mr Fletcher boasts two decades of property experience, focusing on helping clients “find joy through property”.
“I started in real estate back in 2003 with another agency before moving to London in 2007. I grew up here my whole life, but it wasn’t until I came back that I realised that we grew up in one of the most amazing places in the world,” he said.
Having got back into real estate around five years ago, Mr Fletcher relishes the fact that he now lives and works locally: “Avalon Beach and its surrounds are a little bit isolated, beyond the bends, but at the same time, it’s beautiful, it’s lovely. It’s a great opportunity for people to have community.”
For the principal, the opening of the new office is a “natural progression”, as more and more people are coming into the Upper Northern Beaches as a result of the property market’s transition post-COVID.
“We found a massive transition of people from the Lower Northern Beaches to the Upper Northern Beaches, so our market is already there. I think that we’ll fit perfectly into that two-way traffic that occurs in that space,” he added.
Ultimately, the new office shall stand to complete the Cunninghams picture “from harbour to bay”.
In a video posted to social media, Cunninghams managing director John Cunningham has expressed his support for Mr Fletcher, highlighting his critical role in bringing “The Cunningham Way” to the Upper Northern Beaches.
“We’ve been working this whole region for a full 30 years, mainly at the southern end of the Northern Beaches, from Manly to Narrabeen space. But we’re also doing a lot of business at the upper end. We’ve got clients coming to and fro,” Mr Cunningham said.
“So we thought, ‘We are a Northern Beaches agency. We’ve got a Northern Beaches brand. I think we’re very evocative of the Northern Beaches. So why not come up here and do it?’ It was all about finding the right person, and I know we found the right person in Jonathan.”
As the market becomes increasingly complex and diverse, Mr Fletcher aims to deliver a competitive edge to his clients through a talented team.
“Cunninghams is very much an embracing business. It’s all about embracing its staff, building up its staff, encouraging them and empowering them. And that transposes over to how we treat our clients,” the principal said.
Mr Cunningham agreed, saying: “People are our business, from the internal team and the external client… Our 30 years in business, and growing to be the largest residential agency in both sales and leasing on the Northern Beaches, has come about by looking after people.
“It’s a byproduct — you look after people and you’re looked after.”
Cunninghams’ new Avalon Beach office is set to begin operations between late July and early August 2021.
