A former corporate lawyer and public prosecutor has made the move to The Agency’s Brisbane office, after six years in the real estate profession.

Joseph Leong joins the team from Ray White, where he had built up a reputation across Brisbane’s inner south.

Prior to becoming a real estate agent, Mr Leong was a lawyer, where had stints both as a prosecutor for the Queensland office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and in corporate law.

But according to him, it’s in the community that the agent is “most comfortable”.

“The thing I love about real estate is the relationships you build and the trust that your clients place in you. Some of my clients have turned into lifelong friends,” he said.

Even with almost $136 million worth of transactions under his belt, Mr Leong has indicated he is not the agent to “turn up in an AMG and post about it on Instagram”.

“For me, real estate is about the attitude and it’s all about the people. For a seller, I’m there to market their property to the highest standard,” he reflected.

“I get clients from five years ago who call me, saying, ‘Oh, I met you at an open house, you have kept in touch with me even though I told you time and time again I wasn’t interested in selling. Now I have come to sell, I couldn’t think of anyone else who is more perfect to sell my property for me.’”

According to the agent, “it’s that genuine connection with people and ability to create a relationship that really matters in this industry”.

Having transacted 10 sales across July, Mr Leong said, for him, it has meant “helping 20 families make their next move to and from the area”.

“It’s not just about the sale but caring about people that goes a long way. That’s the approach I take,” he continued.

“At the end of the day, my clients put their faith in me to deliver the best possible result for them, and I always settle on their terms.”

The agent’s move was reportedly prompted by being able to better serve clients through technology offerings and a “fresh perspective”.

“I’m excited to be joining The Agency and be part of the growth trajectory the company is on,” he said.

“Andrew Jensen (The Agency chief operating officer) and David Price (The Agency general manager for Queensland) have built a platform in Queensland that I really admire and their track record speaks for itself,” the agent concluded.

Mr Leong’s alignment follows that of mother-daughter duo Cathy and Madi Roche last week.
