Harcourts Australia has appointed a new chief executive officer to head up the network in Western Australia.

Clayton Treloar has been named as Harcourt’s new WA CEO, replacing Paul Blakeley.

Mr Treloar brings significant management experience to his new role at Harcourts, having spent the last seven years as the Australian CEO of Mail Boxes Etc Australia, a franchise with 2,800 locations worldwide, including 40 here in Australia.

He is a certified franchise executive and is on the Franchise Council of Australia (FCA), where he is involved in strategy and advice for franchises, and is a judge for the annual Excellence in Franchising Awards, according to a statement from Harcourts.

Commenting off the back of the appointment, CEO of Harcourts Australia Marcus Williams said the arrival of Mr Treloar coincides with a crucial time at the network, with it having recently welcomed nine new offices into the fold.

“Clayton had many years of experience in the franchising industry, both at a franchisee and a franchisor level,” Mr Williams said.

“Clayton has real estate in his blood, starting with his family’s own prominent real estate agency in Mandurah in Western Australia where he achieved his real estate sales certificate and sold real estate for several years, winning awards along the way, before moving overseas to lead operations for a major brand.

“Clayton understands our client base in this climate; he is a property owner himself with an investment portfolio, and is on the committee of a large 100-unit strata complex in Perth.”

Mr Treloar said he is honoured to take on the CEO role in his home state and credited the attributes that make up the Harcourts network.

“Real estate is an important basis for wealth creation for most Australians, and this is an industry that is in my blood,” Mr Treloar said.

“Harcourts has always been a business that puts people first; that’s always there to support its people at every level to grow and achieve their ambitions. It has a culture of community which has seen the organisation rapidly grow over just 24 short years. Harcourts is home to some of the leading real estate businesses in Western Australia, and it’s a growth trajectory I’m honoured to champion.

“I look forward to inviting more people who share our values to join the Harcourts brand in WA.”

This latest appointment at Harcourts follows that of Adrian Knowles, who joined the network as chief executive officer of growth in May.
