A new RiSE initiative aimed at improving mental wellness for real estate agents is being rolled out nationwide, with thanks to a new partnership.

The national mental wellness peer support, education and certification program, called Mental Wellness in Real Estate, will be accessible to all real estate professionals, beginning this month, with MRI Software having thrown its support behind the cause.

The online 45-minute masterclasses — set to run on the last Wednesday of each month from July to November — are free and accessible industry-wide thanks to the partnership and have been developed in conjunction with mental health provider Heart on My Sleeve (HOMS).

Topics covered across the sessions include overcoming limiting beliefs, disclosure at work, boundaries, finding your words and advanced listening skills.

According to RiSE co-founder and director Sarah Bell, the shared goals with HOMS and MRI Software “are for the real estate industry to remove the internal shame barrier and provide more skills for people to reach out when they are struggling, or to show up for friends, colleagues or family needing support”.

“We are very proud to offer this Mental Wellness Program with HOMS nationally with enormous thanks for the generous support of our partner, MRI Software, that makes it free and therefore accessible to literally everyone in real estate,” she stated.

MRI Software’s David Bowie believes “mental health and wellness must be a top priority for everyone after some of the most difficult years we’ve faced as human beings, leaders and colleagues”.

The SVP and managing director for the Asia-Pacific region — who also sits on the RiSE Initiative’s advisory board — said he is “honoured for MRI to be part of a systemic change solution with the Mental Wellness in Real Estate program in partnership with HOMS”.

Heart on My Sleeve founder Mitch Wallis has applauded the initiative for inspiring and equipping the industry to have “real conversations” with colleagues, family and friends, stating that the initiative’s launch highlights proactive leadership on the topic of mental health.

“Whether you’re going through a mentally difficult time or supporting someone through it, relationships are the single greatest mental health tool we have at our disposal, scientifically speaking,” he advised.

He said the highly interactive nature of the masterclasses could “measurably help people feel more confident in knowing when to listen, when to speak, what to say, and generally improve their mental health literacy”.
