One Byron Bay agent recently had a run in with one of Australia’s biggest celebrities: Chris Hemsworth.
When a licensee of Harcourts Northern Rivers, Steve Leslie, received a regular call regarding a property he was marketing, he wasn’t prepared to run across a Hollywood A-lister.
“It all started when I received an inquiry on a 98-acre parcel of land that we were marketing at 4 Owenia Way, Broken Head,” Mr Leslie recalled.
The next day Mr Leslie arrived at the house just seven kilometres south of Bryon Bay, surrounded by national park and spectacular views north. He was punctually met by the individual who’d inquired, at the scheduled time of 2.00pm.
“He said he was waiting for his business partner, who was running a couple of minutes late,” he said.
A short time later, along came a black 200 Series Land Cruiser. Behind the wheel was the actor, best known for his role as Thor in a series of hugely successful Marvel movies.
After a more formal introduction, Mr Leslie, Mr Hemsworth, and his business partner all piled into a single car and spent the next hour or so exploring the land and inspecting the 39.87 hectares, which included an elevated building site with breathtaking views of the ocean at sunrise and the valley and hinterland at sunset.
“All this time, Chris sat in the front seat and chatted very openly about his intentions for such a block of land, cracking a few jokes, and asking questions.
“To sum Chris up, I would say he is a very down-to-earth, very intelligent, larrikin!” laughed Mr Leslie.
According to the agent, a terrific day was had by all, even though Mr Hemsworth and his business partner did not wind up buying the property due to unsuitable zoning.
And although this property wasn’t the one, Mr Leslie and Harcourts Northern River are optimistic that Thor will find what he’s searching for.
