The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) will start the new year with a search for a new CEO, as Quentin Kilian steps away from the role.

Mr Kilian, who was appointed to the top job at the REIV in November 2021, has tendered his resignation from the organisation and will step away from the position while the institute searches for a replacement.

The REIV board has appointed Megan Mander, who has been serving as senior vice president of the board, as interim CEO. She will step away from her board duties to focus on leading the organisation. Sam Hatzistamatis has assumed Ms Mander’s senior vice president position while Darren Pearce becomes vice president.

A search for a permanent replacement will be initiated in early January, according to the organisation.

In accepting Mr Kilian’s resignation, REIV president Jacob Caine touched on the outgoing CEO’s accomplishments over the past two years.

“Quentin started as CEO having relocated from the Northern Territory and he made a strong impression with REIV employees and our membership,” Mr Caine said.

“Over the past two years, he has engaged a range of important stakeholders across the property sector, government and media, always advocating for the best interests of Victorian property market participants. We wish Quentin every success in his future endeavours.”

Mr Kilian, meanwhile, said he felt he had achieved what he set out to do as CEO and that now is the right time to hand over the reins.

“While there is much to do in advancing the cause of our members and the Victorian property industry more broadly, I’m confident the platform we have set these past two years will ensure the sector’s voice continues to be heard and is influential in the setting of appropriate and effective public policy in Victoria,” Mr Kilian said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to have led REIV and thank the board for its fellowship, the REIV team for its dedication and skill, and the REIV membership for its passion for this ever so important sector,” he added.

Mr Caine also asserted his confidence in Ms Mander’s ability to pilot the organisation through this time.

“Megan is a respected real estate professional with more than 20 years’ experience, and she will bring her strong knowledge of the sector and relationships across it to lead the organisation while we embark on a search process for a permanent CEO,” he said.
