LJ Hooker has announced that long-time employee Rhiannon Bald and local property specialist Vanessa Rhodes will now operate the brand’s Kingscliff office.

The announcement completes the change in ownership for LJ Hooker Kingscliff from outgoing licensee-in-charge Paul McMahon, who sold the business but continues his mentorship to ensure a smooth transition for Bald and Rhodes.

Bald brings a decade of real estate experience, having first joined LJ Hooker as a receptionist before transitioning into sales, property management, holiday lettings, office management, and business management.

Additionally, Bald is also a long-time resident of the Kingscliff area, whose passion for the coastal market helped to fuel her decision to step up and lead LJ Hooker Kingscliff.

“I’m turning 30 this year it is my 10th anniversary at LJ Hooker Kingscliff and now I’ve bought the business with Vanessa, so it is a very special time, Bald said.

As a result of her deep connection to Kingscliff, Bald said that she was excited to drive long-term growth at LJ Hooker Kingscliff.

“I am ready for this; I want to be here for the rest of my career. Vanessa and I make a great team and share the same goal,” Bald said.

“Our focus is on growing our rent portfolio and expanding our sales team to become the number one agency in this area,” she added.

With over her three decades of real estate experience, Rhodes has worked across residential sales, commercial leasing and training, and established herself as a high-performance professional.

Rhode previously worked for LJ Hooker Kingscliff before operating another franchise in nearby Pottsville.

She said that rejoining the LJ Hooker network would open a variety of pathways for growth.

“LJ Hooker Kingscliff is different to the smaller independent agencies in this area because we are part of a much larger network and with that comes many benefits,” Rhodes said.

While the office changes hands, Rhodes said that LJ Hooker Kingscliff will continue to deliver the same personalised services under hers and Bald’s leadership.

“For us, it will be about providing quality service and care to every segment of the community, whether it is working with first home buyers, investors, someone looking to move from interstate to a luxury beachfront home or secure a rental property,” she said.

LJ Hooker said the change in leadership also coincides with an extensive renovation process for its Kingscliff office, which lost its second storey due to a destructive cyclone in March.

Bald said that the current renovation has been integrated into the agency’s broader transformation, which will be unveiled later this year.

“We also have new marketing ready to go, database emails to send, and signboards; we are keen to see LJ Hooker Kingscliff back in the spotlight,” she said.

LJ Hooker’s head of network Australia, Chris Keating, said the appointment of Bald and Rhodes would drive growth for the LJ Hooker Kingscliff office.

Keating also acknowledged and congratulated the outgoing licensee-in-charge McMahon, who he said would help to support Bald and Rhodes as they assume ownership of the agency he founded 35 years ago.

“Succession planning is essential, and to be able to hand over the reins to an enthusiastic and talented operator such as Rhiannon, who has grown up with the business and knows the running inside and out, is a great strategy,” Keating said.

“It is also wonderful to welcome Vanessa back to the network, bringing with her a wealth of local and industry knowledge. This marks an exciting next chapter for the business,” he concluded.
