An established husband-and-wife duo of Hobart locals have assumed ownership of LJ Hooker’s Pinnacle Property office.
LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property is now under the ownership of long-time staff members Taya and Simon Parsons, who will oversee the team’s services in the Greater Hobart region.
The announcement completes the transfer of the business from its previous managing director, Penny Higgs, and sales manager, Stuart Whyment, who are now set to retire after three decades of office leadership.
Taya Parsons initially started working at LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property in 2016, and was joined two years later by her husband Simon, who had previously been employed in property development, design and sales as a corporate business development manager (BDM).
“Initially, I was invited to the Christmas dinner as Taya’s plus one, where I met several staff members, including Stuart, who had heard about my background and invited me to coffee the following week, and the rest is history,” Simon Parsons said.
Simon added that Higgs and Whyment’s decision to retire motivated his and Taya’s decision to step up to agency leadership, and take the “next step in our careers and lives”.
Despite the change in leadership, the husband-and-wife team stressed that clients in the Greater Hobart region can expect the same levels of service from the team at LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property.
“The staff here are skilled and talented, so there aren’t many big changes to make to the business, just some small tweaks that we’d expect to go mostly unnoticed,” Simon said.
LJ Hooker’s head of network for Australia, Chris Keating, said the change in leadership at LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property had occurred during a time of newfound opportunity in the Tasmanian market.
“Tasmania, particularly Hobart, has experienced strong population growth and internal migration from mainland Australia. It has significance for LJ Hooker as it not only allows us access new buyers, sellers and investors, but also creates consistency across the brand nationally,” Keating said.
Amid the current landscape for growth in Tasmania, Keating said Taya and Simon were expertly equipped to take over leadership of LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property.
“Simon and Taya make a great team with a strong business background and knowledge of this important and growing market,” he said.
Moreover, Keating also commended the agency’s previous owners, Higgs and Whyment, on their detailed succession plan, and ultimate selection of Simon and Taya as the new owners of LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property.
“They have been mentored by Stuart and Penny, learning everything they can to ensure this well-established agency not only continues but thrives,” he concluded.
