Knight Frank has named two new office leaders in Victoria as part of its ongoing efforts to expand and reinforce its Melbourne operations while capitalising on a recovering office market.
Experienced real estate duo Simon Hale and Chas Keogh have been announced as the two new Knight Frank’s joint heads of office leasing in Victoria.
Hale takes on the new role following 15 years with Knight Frank’s office leasing team in Victoria, while Keogh brings 23 years of commercial property leasing experience, having previously worked with CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield before joining Knight Frank.
Knight Frank partner, managing director, Victoria, Dominic Long, said the appointment of Hale and Keogh would help the firm build on its existing work in the sector.
“Victoria’s office leasing team completed three of the four largest deals in Melbourne’s CBD last financial year,” Long said.
“The appointment of Simon and Chas as joint heads of office leasing will strengthen Knight Frank’s offering in this space in Victoria.”
“These appointments follow strong recruitment in our wider Victorian office over the past 10 months to bolster our teams, with 17 new people joining the business.”
Keogh said the team would focus on building in their existing markets while expanding out towards the city fringes.
“Having been in the industry for a long time, I have strong relationships with many of the existing team at Knight Frank and I’m looking forward to working with some of the best operators in the market,” Keogh said.
Hale said the latest figures show that the market is preparing for a bounce back.
“We are excited about the year ahead, with the market showing clear signs of improvement,” he said.
According to Hale, Melbourne’s CBD vacancy rate has reached an inflection point, supported by positive net absorption and a slight decrease in incentives.
Similarly, Keogh said he is expecting a positive outlook for Melbourne’s commercial office market.
“I can’t see anything other than blue sky if owners are focused on executing an appropriate strategy,” Keogh concluded.
