A multibillion-dollar property developer and former McGrath board director has become a partner in Kollosche as the network looks to expand in south-east Queensland.
Kollosche confirmed that Shane Smollen has joined as a partner, strengthening its push for growth across the Gold Coast and broader region.
Smollen previously operated a network of 11 real estate offices, generating more than $3 billion in annual sales before McGrath acquired the business in 2015.
In 2010, he founded development company Central Element, which has delivered more than 500 apartments across affluent Sydney suburbs and holds a portfolio worth $2.3 billion.
Michael Kollosche, managing director at Kollosche, said Smollen’s track record made him a natural fit for the agency.
“His proven philosophy of focusing on quality and productivity over quantity to achieve exceptional growth made him a clear choice and natural fit for our business,” Kollosche said.
“He has mentored and coached many of Australia’s leading agents.”
Smollen said the move aligned with both his family’s relocation to the Gold Coast and his view on how real estate should operate.
“The way in which Kollosche conducts itself is aligned with how I believe real estate should be done,” Smollen said.
“Michael and his leadership team have built a premium brand with a great platform for agents to succeed, but there remains potential for growth within both the existing team and the broader market, which presents an exciting opportunity.
“Michael and I bring complementary skill sets to the table, and I look forward to us taking Kollosche forward. It’s also an amazing opportunity to work alongside and share learning with my son, Matt, who joined the business last year.”
Kollosche launched six years ago and now employs 140 staff from its Broadbeach headquarters.
Smollen will focus on developing people, systems, and culture within the company.
“We’ve always aspired to build a business that performs on a world-class level while staying true to our values as a bespoke, client-focused brand,” Kollosche said.
“Shane’s partnership accelerates our ability to achieve that vision, and together we are committed to elevating our business, its people, and our level of service to new heights.
“We see extraordinary opportunities ahead for the broader Gold Coast market, and Shane’s involvement gives us the added drive to realise them.”
