LJ Hooker continues to shape the agents of tomorrow, appointing Zoe Hall, who rose from a 17-year-old trainee to principal and licensee at Sussex Inlet, highlighting the success of its development pathways.

Having grown up on the NSW South Coast, Zoe Hall began her journey with LJ Hooker Sussex Inlet as a trainee at 17 and has now completed her progression within the office, becoming licensee and principal.

Now, almost 15 years later, she is taking over from her mentor, retiring principal Deborah Kuczma.

As a teenager, Hall said she had no idea about what to do with her life and wasn’t sure what the future held when she answered the newspaper ad for the position with LJ Hooker.

“I had no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go, and it was my mum who encouraged me to apply for the traineeship,” Hall said

“When I started with LJ Hooker, I was introduced to everything from property management to sales and my confidence and interest in the business started to grow.”

LJ Hooker head of Network Australia, Chris Keating, said planning for succession within an office can be a challenging task due to the unique way agencies operate.

“It is an advantage when someone from within the team can transition into ownership,” Keating said.

“Zoe has been well prepared to take over the reins of the business, having already filled in several leadership positions.”

With the NSW South Coast market expanding and catering to a diverse range of buyers, Keating said Hall’s local knowledge and expertise will ensure the Sussex Inlet office meets the community’s needs.

Kuczma said the network’s traineeship program provides a strong foundation for those looking to enter the industry, with Hall being an example of what trainees could one day achieve.

“When we first met Zoe, she was a very timid teenager; I really didn’t know if she would be able to interact with clients.

“By the time Zoe reached her mid-20s, she had really grown in her independence and showed a flair for leadership.”

“I feel very confident I’m leaving the business in very good hands and that it will continue to thrive,” Kuczma said.
