Husband-and-wife duo launches One Agency in Brisbane's south-east

A husband-and-wife duo will head One Agency’s newest Brisbane south-east office, marking the network’s expansion in the Bay area.

The new Capalaba office, southeast of Brisbane’s CBD, will be spearheaded by experienced agent Lorraine Martin, who, along with her husband Brian, spent eight years running an independent real estate agency in Townsville.

Martin told REB that although One Agency initially approached the couple to run a Townsville office, and they had received interest from other national networks, she had already been planning a move back to Capalaba.

According to Martin, One Agency seized the opportunity to open an office in Capalaba, as the network did not yet have a presence in the area.

“It turned out really well, because we had been speaking to One Agency up there, and then the stars aligned,” she said.

She and her husband were drawn to the network by its values and the way it operated.

Martin said that the business offered her the ability to operate as a “big little agency”, running with just the husband and wife duo as the only staff, but with the backing of a larger platform.

“We're a little agency of a husband and wife team, and now we have the power of One Agency behind us; that's got to be the best thing,” Martin said.

With a diverse client base of investors and downsizers, Martin said they had found success in slowing down when dealing with the local market.

“We are mature agents, and I think that works really well for us when dealing with those who maybe aren’t sure what to do with real estate.”

“We are those agents who will take the time to sit down with them and explain everything.”

She said that the pair brought a unique approach to the local community, even having a dog as an office mascot.

“I think it shows the human side of our business, that we aren’t there to just sell some brick and mortar,” she said

“We love what we do. For us, it’s not just a job; it's a vocation,” Martin concluded.
