REA Group has announced the acquisition of a data analytics platform to provide a comprehensive view of emerging trends using lifestyle and mobility data.

The REA Group has acquired the Australian data analytics platform Neighbourlytics to deepen the information available to users of the digital real estate portal about their potential future neighbourhoods.

Founded in 2017, Neighbourlytics utilises data such as foot traffic, visitor trends, and top destinations to provide a detailed picture of how people interact with their community in their suburbs.

REA Group executive general manager of PropTrack, Kris Matthews, said the platform will give property seekers a deeper understanding of the way residents interact with their neighbourhood.

“Australians don’t just buy a property; they buy into a community and a lifestyle,” Matthews said.

“This data will help our consumers understand more about the property and the community around it, enabling them to make more informed decisions in their property search.”

With the platform providing up-to-date real estate data, Matthews said that Neighbourlytics was a natural fit for the group to integrate into its residential and commercial services.

Neighbourlytics founder and CEO Jessica Christiansen-Franks said the integration into REA’s services would allow the platform's data to provide additional insights to a broader audience.

“Neighbourlytics tells you what it’s like to live in a local area and what the local identity is.”

“Too often local lifestyle is summarised by demographics, when it’s actually the lived experience that makes us feel connected to the places that we live,” Christiansen-Franks concluded.
