Property data firm Cotality has announced the appointment of a new head of research to enhance its market insight and analysis across the nation’s property sector.
Gerard Burg has been appointed as Cotality’s head of research, joining from his previous role as senior economist at National Australia Bank (NAB).
With a Bachelor's in Economics (Honours) and Commerce, Burg brings more than two decades of experience across both the government and private sectors, focusing on macroeconomics and industry analysis.
In his most recent role at NAB, Burg specialised in international economic research with a focus on emerging markets, particularly China.
Cotality said that Burg will lead the research agenda, while shaping media commentary and client briefings, and work with stakeholders to deliver data-rich perspectives on housing and broader economic trends.
Cotality research director Tim Lawless said Burg would leverage all of his previous experience to provide context to the company’s housing and rental narratives.
“Gerard’s ability to connect macroeconomic forces with on-the-ground property dynamics will be crucial for the Australian market,” Lawless said.
“Alongside our researchers, he’ll help advance Cotality’s mission to deliver timely, accurate, and engaging insights for media, clients and policymakers.”
