A veteran real estate agent resigned his position “effective immediately” following a heated altercation with a young mother over a leaf blower, during which he warned her not to become “his enemy”.
Victorian real estate agent Trevor Bowen of Ray White Cheltenham has ended his employment “effective immediately” after an incident during a house inspection, in which he told a young mother using a leaf blower on a neighbouring property not to become “his enemy.”
The incident captured on a front gate camera showed Lisa Rogers being hurled by Bowen as she was using a leaf blower on her front lawn.
Bowen demanded that Rogers cease the activity immediately, telling the woman, “You don’t want me as an enemy”
As reported by the Herald Sun, Rogers, who bought her property from Bowen a couple of years earlier, said the real estate agent walked into the property looking angry and demanded that she stop using the leaf blower without even greeting her.
“He asked me to do him a favour and stop leaf blowing, and I said, ‘Why would I do that?’. And he said, ‘because I’ve asked you to’,” Rogers told the Herald Sun.
“He called me childish, and I asked him repeatedly to get away from my property. I didn’t say anything, berating him, and I was just in a state of both shock and fear.”
As she walked back into her property, Bowen then told her to “get in there, you psychopath”, before asking her if she wanted “everyone on your street to know you’re a c--khead?”
At the time of the altercation, Rogers was alone with her five-year-old son.
Roger told the Herald that the residents of the neighbourhood have known Bowen’s behaviour for a while and that he was “clearly aware that there are no consequences for this kind of behaviour”.
“He is a bully, speaking to a woman who had her child with her at the time. It’s an abuse of power and status," she said.
Following the heated interaction, Bowen apologised, taking full responsibility for his actions.
“She didn’t deserve that, and I regret how I handled things in this moment. I take full responsibility without excuses,” Bowen said.
Ray White Victoria chief executive Domenic Belfiore said the firm had received a serious complaint about Bowen, whose behaviour was unacceptable and did not reflect the company's standards.
Belfiore confirmed that Bowen had “concluded his employment” with the company, effective immediately.
