A real estate agent in Darwin was arrested for her alleged involvement in supplying a commercial quantity of methamphetamine.
Natasha Henderson was arrested on 5 March as part of a multi-agency operation named “Operation Quantico”, targeting drug supply nationwide.
She was charged with one count of supplying a commercial quantity of Schedule 1 dangerous drugs, as well as four counts of possession of tainted property, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The agencies arrested Henderson at her workplace and executed a search warrant, in which they found 17 grams of methamphetamine in her work vehicle and office desk, worth $159,000.
Following her arrest, warrants were executed at further addresses connected to Henderson, leading to the arrest of Earl Hewett, as well as the seizure of small quantities of drugs and a prohibited weapon.
Hewett was charged with the supply of less than a commercial quantity of schedule one dangerous drugs, possession of tainted property valued at $110,000 and possession of less than traffickable schedule one dangerous drug.
Additionally, the courts heard allegations that Henderson used a work vehicle to transport a teenage alleged drug courier between hotels in Darwin’s CBD.
The teenager was intercepted by authorities at Perth Airport, allegedly carrying 2 kilograms of cocaine
In Henderson’s bail hearing, the court heard that she had been terminated from her role in real estate, but had already lined up a job with a local business.
Judge Stephen Geary refused Henderson’s and Hewett’s bids for bail, with both of their cases adjourned until 6 May.
