LJ Hooker has announced the return of one of the network’s oldest South Australian offices, with the family-owned business looking to leverage previous connections to serve Adelaide’s south coast.

LJ Hooker Aldinga | Seaford has returned to the network, following the business’ five-year stint with The Professionals.

The office was originally one of the network’s first to open in South Australia and has rejoined LJ Hooker, guided by returning principal John McGarry.

The business was previously owned by McGarry’s father-in-law before McGarry took over ownership in 2000, expanding it to three locations.

The branches have since consolidated into a single office, which will serve the southern coast and surrounding wine regions.

McGarry said that the return to the brand was a “full circle moment”, driven by a conversation with fellow LJ Hooker principal Michael Fenn.

“He was the one who put the idea of a homecoming to me, but I had been having similar thoughts, and it just went from there,” McGarry said.

“I’m putting my old jumper back on and returning to where I’m most aligned and can truly thrive.”

LJ Hooker head of network Christopher Keating said the return of the Altinga office and McGarry to the network strengthened LJ Hooker’s presence in Adelaide’s affordable outer suburbs.

“We share a vision for the success and growth of the business,” Keating said.

“While we have taken different paths in recent years, we’ve always maintained mutual respect. Together, we are now focused on building a stronger future and unlocking new opportunities.”

McGarry said the brand presence and referral network were significant factors in the decision to rejoin the network.

“It also comes back to how it feels to be part of this team, and for me, it is being around like-minded agents.

“We’ve built strong relationships with the market and conducted many transactions over the course of this journey, so we will be looking to tap back into legacy business,” McGarry added.
