Auctioneers from across Australia and New Zealand will come together to compete for the title of best as a renowned auctioneering competition returns in 2026.
The Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AUSTROS), co-hosted by the Real Estate Institute of Australia, Real Estate Institute of Victoria, and Real Estate Institute of New Zealand, will be held alongside the 2026 National Awards for Excellence in Melbourne.
The competition will see the industry’s best auctioneers across Australia and New Zealand land in Melbourne to compete in a contest of skill, strategy and performance.
Additionally, the championship reaffirms the industry’s commitment to creating stronger pathways for newcomers and emphasising the evolving standards shaping the future of real estate careers.
The event will see the return of both the Australasian Auctioneering Championships and the Australasian Novice Auctioneering Championships, with 16 established auctioneers and 13 novice auctioneers taking to the stage to showcase their talents and gain national exposure.
The contestants for the established auctioneers are: Frank Walmsley – Auction Advantage, Nic Salter-Harding – LJ Hooker Dickson, Clarence White – Menck White Auctioneers, Emanuel Comino – McGrath Estate Agents, Paul Tzamalis – The Auction Company, Greg Brydon – Apollo Auctions, Joe Horton – Nelson Alexander, Anthony DeMarco – ADM Auctions, Vincent Doran – Crawford Doran, Jordan Curd – Place Graceville, Yianni Mooney – Yianni Mooney Property, and Prashanth Nayar – The Real Estate Times Agency.
The New Zealand-based auctioneers competing in the established competition include Mark McGoldrick – Harcourts, Travers Smyth – Bayleys, Shane Cortese – Harcourts, and Dan Pengelly – Harcourts Holmwood.
In the novice competition category, the contestants are: Alan Tongue – LJ Hooker Gungahlin, Jackson White-Brettell – LJ Hooker Kaleen, Panal Boustani – Sold Buy Auction, Crispian Fielke – The Auction Team (SA), Ben Krieg – All Adelaide Real Estate, Angus McPherson – Nelson Alexander, Ben O’Brien – Strud Property, Max Calvert – Nutrien Harcourts, Ed McKay – New Haus Agency, Brendan Habak – Inhabit Property, Revandy Rasyad – The Real Estate Times Agency.
The contestants competing in the novice competition from New Zealand include Sharni Bichan – Refined Real Estate and Will Tremain – Tremains Real Estate.
REIA president Jacob Caine said AUSTROS was about more than just the competition, but a chance to showcase the professionalism and adaptability that underpins the modern real estate industry.
“Auctioneering today is about far more than calling bids; it requires strategy, market insight and the ability to build trust under pressure,” Caine said.

The 2026 Australasian Auctioneering Championships will be held from 19 May to 21 May 2026 in Abbotsford, Melbourne.
