Agents and property managers from across the nation traded their dress shoes for sneakers as they walked together to raise money ahead of the industry’s conference, AREC.
The charity event, Walk to AREC, saw participants travel 25km from Surfers Paradise to Burleigh Heads and back, raising a cumulative total of $100,000 for human trafficking charity Destiny Rescue in its third year since its foundation by Wingman Group’s Jonny Bell and Jonathan Rostron.
Destiny Rescue aims to rescue children from human trafficking, support them as they reduce the vulnerabilities that led to the exploitation and empower them for a life of freedom.
Wingman head of growth Nick Georges said the anti-trafficking charity was close to the business's heart, with a large portion of Wingman’s staff based in the Philippines.
“We’re incredibly proud of what Walk to AREC has become and the impact it’s creating,” Georges said.
“We’re grateful to everyone who has supported the initiative and will continue to partner with Destiny Rescue to help create a safer future for vulnerable children.”
FOUNDIT Property co-founder Angus Ferguson said the money raised was an example of what the industry could achieve when working toward a shared goal.
"Turning our physical steps into tangible freedom for vulnerable children is some of the most important work our team will do all year.”
“When this industry pulls together, we have the ability to save lives, and it was amazing to be a very small part of that!” Ferguson said.
