Barry Plant has welcomed a mother back to the network with a promotion, launching a new role to support growth in the network’s next phase.
Barry Plant has announced the appointment of Monika Doyle to the network’s newly created chief of staff role.
Having recently become a mother, Doyle returns to the network, bringing more than two decades of experience across automotive, aerospace, sport, and real estate to her new role.
Barry Plant CEO Lisa Pennell said that Doyle’s return gave the network an opportunity to reassess how to best utilise her skills, before eventually opting to create a new position.
Pennell said the creation of the role was a natural step for both Doyle and the network.
“Monika is an exceptional leader and an even more exceptional person,” Pennell said.
“The big question for me was how we would best reintegrate Monika into the team post-maternity leave in a way that would support her journey of motherhood, but also level up our business at the same time. The creation of the chief of staff role was the obvious answer.”
In her new role, Pennell said that Doyle would focus on laying the groundwork for the structures, accountability, and communication needed for the next phase of growth.
Doyle said she would work to ensure that the network was properly aligned in its vision for the future.
“The chief of staff role is really about keeping the business connected, making sure we’re all moving in the same direction, and driving ambitious performance-led goals as we work towards becoming the trusted brand in real estate,” Doyle said.
“As we continue to scale, having that alignment and focus becomes increasingly important.”
She said that it was always a case of when she came back to the network post-maternity leave, rather than if.
“It was more about how I would make it work with family life,” she said.
Doyle said that motherhood had reshaped her leadership approach and given her a greater appreciation of productivity.
“One thing I didn’t fully understand until being in that situation is how much more productive you become when you’re a mother. You just have to be. You’re juggling so many things, and your responsibility is so high. It matures you very quickly.”
Barry Plant said that the appointment was another step in strengthening its leadership capability while demonstrating the value of fostering an attractive environment for staff where they can step away, return, and continue to grow.
