Charity home goes for $2.9m under the hammer

As part of the 2026 initiative, Coronis Ascot selling principal Oliver Jonker led the campaign for a new-build property that sold for $2.9 million, with 100 per cent of the proceeds donated directly to Mater Little Miracles.

The result exceeded the previous year's mark of $2.45 million, bringing the total raised through the initiative since it began in 2008 to almost $12 million.

This year's sale, built by Plantation Homes, marked the 11th property built for the cause.

Jonker said Mater Little Miracles held a special place in his heart, and the sale meant more to him than any other over his 11-year career.

“My own son was cared for by the team at Mater, so I know exactly what this money means for families going through something incredibly difficult,” Jonker said.

Coronis CEO Karuna Mazzocchi said the charitable efforts would make a real difference for the families who relied on Mater's support.

“Almost $3 million for one home is an extraordinary result, and I couldn’t be prouder of what Oliver and the team at Coronis Ascot have achieved,” Mazzocchi said.

“Every single dollar goes straight to Mater Little Miracles, and that means more of Queensland’s tiniest babies can get the care they need to fight for their lives.”

Additionally, Coronis’ longstanding support of the charity stems from founder and chairman Andrew Coronis and his wife Anna’s personal connection to the cause.

“In February 2001, my wife Anna and I faced one of life’s most profound challenges when we said goodbye to our beloved son, Peter.

“Words cannot describe the pain we went through, and still do today. But the wonderful people at the Mater made a very traumatic time of sadness just that little bit better,” said Coronis.

Since then, the group has supported Mater through campaigns such as House for Life and the Coronis Foundation.
