Former Raine & Horne leading agent Alex Lyons has defected to an international prestige real estate brand, bringing experience gained from billions of dollars in transactions.

Christie’s International Real Estate NSW has announced that former Raine & Horne agent Alex Lyons has joined as an affiliate partner, as the network continues to expand its presence across NSW’s prestige property markets.

The former Raine & Horne agent was named top performer by dollar value over the past 3 years and totalled $850 million in sales in 2025.

With individual property sales of up to $150 million and more than $3 billion worth of property sold over the past decade, Lyons has taken on a new challenge by aligning with a globally prestigious real estate brand.

The appointment brings Christie’s International Real Estate’s total staff to 21, up from 12 when the brand launched in April 2026.

Lyons brings a strong understanding of buyer demographics in some of Sydney’s most sought-after property markets, including Bondi, Rose Bay, Bellevue Hill and Double Bay.

He said the Eastern Suburbs were no stranger to international demand, with one in three of his recent property transactions involving expats or overseas buyers.

“Sydney’s harbourside suburbs have a level of demand you don’t see anywhere else in Australia, and more and more of it is coming from overseas,” Lyons said.

“While local buyers have become more cautious this year, I’m seeing expats coming home from London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore who have kept an eye on this market for years, as well as foreign buyers who see Sydney as one of the most desirable cities in the world.”

Lyons said the reshaping of key harbourside markets has created a rare window, and the best opportunity in a decade, for local buyers to act.

With fewer local buyers in the market, Lyons said there was a genuine opportunity to negotiate on a property that may not come up again for a decade.

According to Lyons, the move to Christie’s International was the next logical step in his career, given his experience dealing with international buyers.

He said his reliance on international buyers and the brand’s recognition in the prestige market played a significant role in his move.

“For my vendors, it means their home is in front of buyers in New York, London and Hong Kong the same week it hits the market here, backed by a brand that buyers at this level already know and trust.”

Christie’s International Real Estate NSW CEO Scott Michaelson said adding Lyons to the network would strengthen its presence in the tightly held Eastern Suburbs market.

“He’s the standout agent in this pocket of Sydney, and his strength with international buyers is exactly what Christie’s is built for.”

“When local buyer interest dips, having Christie’s global network behind a property can make all the difference – it puts our vendors’ homes directly in front of international buyers,” Michaelson said.
