The rise in unconditional sales follows LJ Hooker recording a 52 per cent year-on-year rise in homeowners conducting property appraisals between August and October.

LJ Hooker head of network Christopher Mourd said, “We’re not seeing any of the traditional Christmas lull.

“In fact, many of our salespeople are reporting sellers are looking to list before Christmas, hoping to attract a buyer in the New Year.

“LJ Hooker’s offices, especially those in coastal centres, are anticipating a higher than usual level of enquiry over the Christmas and January holidays.’’

Mr Mourd said January was traditionally a popular time for sellers to list.

“In between trips to the beach and watching the cricket, many property owners take advantage of the Christmas break to organise an appraisal on their home or investment property," he said.

“LJ Hooker offices are open throughout the holiday period to not only provide an appraisal, but also to point out features and improvements buyers are searching for, so sellers can make their property stand out when it's listed in the New Year.’’
