Keen to drop AU$229 million on new digs? Beverly Hills mansion Palazzo di Amore, America's most expensive home for sale, has hit the market with a serious price tag, however, the cost may well be justified.

The property was purchased in 2007 for US$35 million by real estate investor Jeff Greene prior to his extensive renovations.

The marketing guff for the property states it is a "residential compound suited for royalty" spread out over 25 acres (about 10 hectares). It features 12 bedrooms, 23 bathrooms, a separate entertainment centre complete with bowling alley, a theatre that sits 50 and a disco with DJ booth and rotating dance floor, as well as a 39 metre-long reflecting pool.
