From winning more management to keeping landlords loyal and cutting admin with AI, PMX Conference 2026 will explore the strategies driving rent roll growth without compromising service.

Property managers looking to grow their rent rolls, retain landlords and get more from their teams will have plenty to take away from this year’s Property Management Excellence Conference.

Returning for its second year on Thursday, 5 November, at The Star Sydney, the event will bring together industry leaders to tackle the challenges holding property management businesses back.

The program will focus on building stronger teams, generating new business, retaining customers and scaling sustainably.

Additionally, the PMX Conference will explore the systems, habits and customer relationships driving rent roll growth, from winning new managements to keeping landlords loyal.

Build a team that performs when it matters

Growing a rent roll takes more than winning landlords, requiring a team that delivers consistent service, handles pressure and keeps customers coming back.

Former Red Bull F1 Team head of operations Richard Hopkins will open the conference with two sessions on building high-performance teams, drawing on elite motorsport to explore the role of culture, accountability and leadership in creating stronger, more resilient businesses.

Hopkins will examine the standards and daily habits that help teams perform under pressure, take ownership and consistently deliver better customer experiences.

A panel moderated by Alex Whitlock, co-founder of Managed, will bring together Grant McKay, director at NU Management, Tim Harris, director at H&B Real Estate, and Nick Georges, head of growth at Wingman Group, to examine what separates agencies that keep growing from those that plateau.

The conversation will explore the decisions behind building a market-leading agency, from setting the right culture and making strategic growth calls to creating customer loyalty and bringing teams along for the journey.

Property managers will also hear from Simone Shirvington – founder, director, and licensee in charge at Elever Realty – on the daily habits and systems that drive business development, build a consistent pipeline and turn referrals into new management.

Stop waiting for growth and start building it

For agencies looking to expand their rent rolls, the conference will examine two key pathways: generating new managements through digital marketing and referrals, and scaling through strategic acquisitions.

Property management trainer and organisational strategist Lauren Robinson will explore why businesses need to design rent roll growth, rather than leave it to market conditions or organic opportunities.

Robinson will explore systems that turn digital marketing, brand positioning and customer referrals into a steady pipeline of new managements.

The program will also cover rent roll acquisitions, from identifying opportunities and assessing value to due diligence and integration without compromising service or profitability.

Keep landlords loyal before they look elsewhere

While winning landlords is one part of the equation, retaining them is what builds a valuable rent roll.

PMX will explore customer experience with Jason Back, founder and director at Broker Essentials, examining the role of trust, proactive service and value in building stronger landlord relationships.

Treating landlords as individuals, rather than another account on the rent roll, can boost retention, generate referrals and give agencies a competitive edge.

Back will also tackle a growing challenge for the profession: how to automate more work without losing the personal relationships that keep customers loyal.

Put AI to work

Technology will be another major focus, with the program examining how property management businesses can use data and AI to make better decisions, reduce administration and scale more effectively.

Michael Johnson, director at Agile Market Intelligence, will explore how agencies can build an evidence-based approach to running their businesses.

Rather than letting performance data sit unused in dashboards, the session will identify the right metrics that help property managers diagnose problems, uncover opportunities and make decisions that support more profitable, predictable growth.

Pete Williams, chief edge officer at Centre for the Edge, Deloitte Australia, will demonstrate practical AI applications to streamline communications, cut admin and improve workflows without adding complexity.

The focus will be on practical applications that agencies can take back to their businesses, helping teams work more efficiently and deliver better outcomes for landlords and tenants.

Bring the growth strategy together

The day will close with Cathie Crampton, head of property management Australia and New Zealand at LJ Hooker, examining what the next era of property management will demand from leaders and their teams.

Drawing on decades of industry experience, Crampton will examine the leadership, discipline and growth strategies that help agencies scale without compromising customer experience or profitability.

The conference will deliver practical insights to help property managers strengthen their rent rolls, teams and long-term business performance.

Awards to close the night

The conference will be followed by the REB PMX Awards, recognising the professionals and businesses setting the benchmark for property management across Australia.

Now in their third year, the awards celebrate excellence across the sector, recognising property managers, teams, offices, leaders and innovators for their achievements in customer service, business growth, team performance and operational excellence.

The REB PMX Awards will take place on Thursday, 5 November 2026, at The Star Sydney, bringing the industry together to recognise the people and businesses driving the profession forward.
